The Outwest BBS is an online Bulletin Board System (BBS), that was originally active from 1992-1997, on Oct 15 2015 the Outwest BBS was brought back online using Rob Swindell’s Synchronet BBS software via Telnet over the internet rather than a traditional dial-up modem.

  • Hardware: HP Thin Client PC running Windows 7 32 bit. 
  • Interface: Consistent with classic BBSes, the Outwest BBS features a text-based interface and menu system, with ANSI art.
  • Content: The BBS includes Dovenet inter BBS message boards and online games. This is typical of vintage bulletin board systems, which fostered a strong sense of community and offered games that could be played by users.

How to access the Outwest BBS
You can connect to the Outwest BBS using a Telnet client like Syncterm, Netrunner, or PUTTY terminal emulator’s that redirects a COM port to Telnet, or a modern 32-bit terminal emulator.

My brother Terry Started the CoCoShop BBS in 1987 when I was 27 my older brother, Terry ran the BBS on his TRS-80 Color Computer 2, Denn was the Co-Sysop. The software used for the original CoCoShop BBS was Richard Duncan's CoBBS v 1.2 modified software, then Later ran on Terry Gray's Color Connect BBS software until 1988. A few years later Denn started a BBS called "the Outwest BBS" running PCBoard 14.x and later upgraded to 15.x that ran from 1992 to 1997 in West Valley City, Utah. in 2015 Denn started running two BBS's. 1. the Outwest BBS the 2nd Iteration outwest.synchro.net running synchronet 3.19 BBS software on windows 7 and a HP thin Client PC. 2. the Razz Pie BBS razzpie.ddns.net running Mystic, on a raspberry PI 2 then later upgraded to a Raspberry PI 3. I also authored BBSBASE 6.0 BBSBAS6R.ZIP to keep a running list of local BBSes that I would then upload to other BBSes. BBSBAS6R.ZIP can be found on many of the 1990's shareware CD's.
