MorningSide Mortuary

A Worldgroup BBS Featuring MajorMUD. MorningSide Mortuary is completely free, and is open to all. I run it as a hobby. Everyone who comes on board gets unlimited time. There is a lot of room for everybody with 256 nodes. This is a good place for you to start your MajorMUD experience. MajorMUD has over 19,000 rooms, and you can adventure with your friends simultaneously in real time. Create parties and explore the massive realms of MajorMUD together. I configured the MajorMUD so that when you enter the game for the first time, you don’t have to give your character a last name. Which I think is pretty cool, since in medieval times, people generally did not have last names. Most boards require you to have a last name in MajorMUD. Items are not limited, and items are NOT level restricted. Everyone gets SYS GOTO and SYS MAP. All the monsters give twenty times or more experience points than normal. You also get 300 Character Points at the very beginning, so you can make a very strong character right from the start. You are allowed to make as many characters as you want. Aldreth, who is located in the Darkwood Forest (Tree House), now trains up to level 125. I want to thank Sysop Bloodrock4ever of the Lostways BBS for his suggestion that I add the Gold Jeweled Ring to the Newhaven General Store where it can be purchased for free. The Newhaven General Store also contains a lot of other free goodies. Frankenstein has been added as a new monster. He can be found at the beginning of the Main Road to the Darkwood Forest, and roaming on the bottom half of Noble st. in the Slums. In the Halls Of The Dead, if you go East, there is a hidden room called Dracula’s Crypt that you may find interesting. In its original “stock” incarnation, MajorMUD was a rather brutal, tedious game that required excessive scripting. Some players brought up to me concerns they had about the inherent difficulties of the game. I first started to run a bbs in Hawaii in 1991. The programs I used were Silicosis, Vision, Vision-X, RoboBOARD, and finally TheMajorBBS 6.25. I was the only board in Hawaii that ran MajorMUD. I closed the bbs down on April 17, 1999, because boards were going out of style due to the popularity of the emerging internet. When I revived my board in March of 2024, I kept its original name: MorningSide Mortuary. I am running the board on The Major BBS v10 software.
