The Telnet/Dial-Up BBS Guide - November 2026
--------------------------------------------
Our 29th Anniversary!

On November 1, 2026, the Telnet BBS Guide is
now 29 years old. Thank you for all of your
support over the years!

New mTelnet NG Telnet Client!

Also on November 1, 2026, we will now be
distributing the new mTelnet NG (Next
Generation) telnet client with the monthly
version of the Telnet BBS Guide. This is
a major "update" to the famous mTelnet
client that has not been updated since
2003! The newly inspired program is a
recreation from scratch that can accommodate
most modern BBS systems, and can
handle UTF-8 automatically. It can also
handle PETSCII (Commodore) in either 40
or 80 columns. You can also download
mTelnet NG at the following location:

Dial-up any BBS on the Telnet BBS Guide!

A relatively new service (not run by
the BBS Corner or Telnet BBS Guide)
called the 2600 Network allows anyone with
a modem to call any BBS on the Telnet BBS
Guide. Check out their site at
https://2600.network

We need articles for both the BBS Corner &
Telnet BBS Guide!

Are you a BBS Sysop or BBS developer? We're
looking for articles for our BBS websites.
If you want to write an article or submit an
idea for an article, please contact us and
we'll work on it!

All the info you want to start or to improve
your BBS! We've been around since 1996 and
update regularly. Check it out!

Distro List for Telnet BBS Guide moved to Groups.io

As of February 2019, the monthly distribution list
of the Telnet BBS Guide has moved to Groups.io. If
you wish to subscribe to the new mailing list, please
sign up at the following location:

https://groups.io/g/telnetbbsguide/

Note: Those on the Group.io distribution list
will only get text files and no longer will get the
full distribution because Gmail and other mail systems
are blocking the Emails.

Notes for BBS Sysops:

We are aware that some of you are moving your BBSes to a non-
standard port from the default telnet port number (23). If you
do move to a non-standard port, please either update your listing
or let us know and we'll update your listing for you. Remember,
we do verify your BBS listing several times a month. If it is not in
operation, we will mark it down. We will wait for 30 days.
If it's still down, we will delete it from the database. So,
please keep your listing updated if you do indeed make
any address changes. Thanks!

And of course, if your listing is already there, please "claim"
your listing. Add an account and send us an Email from the
"Contact Us" at the top of the page. I will then link
your account to your BBS listing so you can edit it.
Please DO NOT create a new listing if your BBS already
exists. That makes more work for me! Thanks!

Finally, when you sign up as a new user to either add or edit
your BBS listing, please enter your first or last name in the
signup information. Otherwise your listing may not be accepted.
Thanks!

Thanks, and continue to enjoy the ride!

- Dave
