BETA TEST VERSION The BBS Corner's US & Canada Dial-Up BBS Guide is the newest part of the The BBS Corner website. Here are the reasons why the site was created and why we wish to help the dial-up BBS sysop NOTE - we are still in BETA test mode. We will add more dial-up BBS systems to this list as we find them, and will have a searchable list similar to that at the Telnet BBS Guide. Why We Are Here The US & Canada Dial-Up BBS List was created in October 2003 to supplement the Telnet BBS Guide which was created six years earlier. There are still a number of dial-up BBS systems for one reason or another have not connected their systems to the Internet, or who choose not to do so. Dial-up BBS systems still offer a unique blend of regional message forums and online games that cannot be found anywhere else. The main reason that the Dial-Up BBS list was created is to help take the place of abandoned dial-up BBS lists such as the old USBBS list (which CLAIMS to be going to a bi-annual release - but it hasn't been updated since mid-2004). (Note - I asked Brent Yandell at the USBBS list if he wanted any help in running the list, but my requests fell on deaf ears (or blind eyes?). Anyhow, he has obviously felt that the dial-up BBS is not important anymore and has only updated his list ONCE since April 2002.) The Dial-Up BBS Guide will also help combine other dial-up BBS lists for the US and Canada that we find either on the Internet or via Fidonet as time permits.
Hopefully this list will make a difference and continue to do so in
the future. Timeline 2003 - Started US & Canada Dial-Up BBS Guide Site Created October 2003. Page last modified July 1, 2010 Contact us for more information |
